Cumberland County
Dr. Thomas White, who named the great range of mountains that separates Kentucky from Virginia, was indirectly honored by the naming of Cumberland County in 1798. The Cumberland River which winds its way through the central part of the county is the direct source of the county's name. Formed from former Green County Lands, the county seat is at Burkesville.

Dale Hollow Lake State Park is located in the southeast corner of the county, as are the northern extremes of Dale Hollow Lake, a popular lake that lies mainly in Tennessee, which forms the southern border of Cumberland County.

Dale Hollow State Park
Dale Hollow Lake State Park is the only state park to offer a place for riding clubs to take their horses camping. Dale Hollow State Park is located at Dale Hollow Lake, a 27,000 acre lake located in Kentucky and Tennessee. There are approximately 3000 acres of forest and open land... an estimated 10-15 mile ride can be done in a day. The area is back country and no formal trail system exists. There is access to the lake at several points. Enjoy golf at Dale Hollow State Park Golf Course (click to visit site)
